CBT worksheets to support teenagers with sleep difficulties

Sleep

Sleep difficulties are common during adolescence and can significantly impact mood, concentration, motivation, and overall well-being.

Changes in routine, increased academic pressure, and late-night screen use can all disrupt healthy sleep patterns.

Insufficient and poor-quality sleep is associated with worsened mood, difficulty regulating emotions and increased chances of developing mood and anxiety disorders (Short, Bartel & Carskadon, 2019).

Our resources are designed to help practitioners support young people in improving sleep hygiene, reducing worry at bedtime, and developing consistent, healthy routines. They include:

  • Psychoeducation worksheets explaining the science of sleep, the impact of routine, and common cognitive–behavioural patterns that maintain poor sleep

  • Sleep diaries and trackers to record sleep habits and identify helpful changes

  • Relaxation and wind-down strategies, including grounding techniques and progressive muscle relaxation (PMR)

  • Teen-friendly language, graphics and examples to make concepts relatable and practical
