Phobia & Fears

Climbing a fear ladder

CBT resources for teenage fears & phobias

These materials are grounded in graded exposure, an evidence-based CBT method.

The resources focus on building motivation and providing a clear rationale for exposure, supporting young people to commit to this often challenging work.

Developed by experienced clinicians and educators, our worksheets use clear language, engaging graphics and relatable examples.

The collection includes:

  • Psychoeducation handouts explaining the fight-or-flight response, safety behaviours and avoidance cycles.

  • Phobia formulations mapping links between thoughts, feelings and behaviour, including versions specific to emetophobia.
  • Exposure templates using either a traditional fear or bravery ladder or a “journey to calm” format to help young people plan steps and monitor progress.

  • Parent/carer information sheet to help adults understand exposure work and support the young person’s practice between sessions.
