Panic

CBT worksheets to support teenagers with panic attacks:

Panic-related difficulties are a common presentation in child and adolescent mental health services.

Many young people experience sudden, intense episodes of anxiety marked by overwhelming physical symptoms — often accompanied by fear of losing control, going mad, or something terrible happening.

Graded exposure and cognitive therapy remain two key Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy interventions for panic, supported by a strong evidence base.  Our resources are designed to support practitioners delivering this work by helping young people:

  • Understand their physiological responses
  • Recognise and challenge catastrophic misinterpretations
  • Identify safety behaviours and patterns of avoidance
  • Create exposure hierarchies tailored to their goals
  • Engage in well-structured exposure tasks of increasing difficulty
